毕业季｜心之所向，艺无止境，狄邦华曜的艺术生如何点亮梦想？

以上文字来自于四位狄邦华曜学校2024届艺术类毕业生的采访。在艺术的广阔天地里，每位创作者都是独一无二的星辰，以自己独特的光芒照亮着这个世界。他们用别具一格的方式表达内心的声音，用独树一帜的视角观察社会，用匠心独运的手法捕捉生活的美好。

For Efe, product design wasn’t a passion from a young age; it was something he discovered during his time at Huayao Collegiate. "I didn't study art much when I was younger, so switching to this major was a bit of a late start," he admits, showing his fearless exploration of new fields and honest pursuit of his interests.

"I believe the purpose of product design is to use design to solve real-life problems." For Efe, design is not just a skill but a powerful tool for improving life. Inspired by watching his grandmother struggle to climb stairs, he came up with the idea to design a stair-cleaning robot to lighten her load.

诸如这样结合创意与实用性的设计可以在Efe的作品集里窥见更多，从装置艺术到绘画，从现实生活的观察到抽象概念的探索，每一件作品都展现了Efe在艺术创作上的广泛兴趣和深入探索，以及狄邦华曜学校艺术老师的贴心指导与支持。

针对Efe美术底子薄弱的情况，Sierra老师特意为他推荐了相关书籍，并指导他进行具体的绘画练习。这些书籍和练习帮助Efe在艺术创作上不断进步，增强了他的艺术技能和表现力。

Efe’s portfolio reflects this blend of creativity and practicality. From installation art to paintings, from real-life observations to abstract concepts, each piece showcases his wide-ranging interests and deep exploration in art, supported by the thoughtful guidance of his art teachers at Huayao Collegiate. 

Given his limited art background, Ms. Sierra recommended specific books and guided him through detailed drawing exercises, helping Efe improve his skills and artistic expression.

Efe的设计作品，充满了创新思维和人文关怀，就像他本人一样，翩翩公子自带如沐春风的气质比较好相处（当然I人得熟悉了之后）。著名的建筑设计师顾忆老师曾说过，“最好的设计，是有温度的，不是让人膜拜，而是让人触摸的。”相信Efe可以凭借自己的的双手和智慧，将生活中的观察和感受转化为一件件经过精心设计的产品，改变人们的生活。

Efe's design works are full of innovative thinking and humanistic care, much like his own pleasant and approachable demeanor. Famous architect Gu Yi once said, "The best design has warmth; it’s not something to be worshipped but something to be touched." With his hands and wisdom, Efe is poised to transform his observations and feelings into meticulously designed products that improve people’s lives.

因为疫情，险些要远赴美国私立高中的Efe，如今却成为狄邦华曜的创校毕业生，在这里收获了“海阔凭鱼跃，天高任鸟飞”的美好记忆。在狄邦华曜的4年里，学校提供的支持和资源，老师的悉心指导，以及新环境的挑战和机遇，共同塑造了一个更加独立、自信的Efe。他在这里不仅学到了绘画技巧，更学会了如何用戏剧去表达自我。

Due to the pandemic, Efe, who nearly went to a private school in the U.S., ended up becoming a founding graduate of Huayao Collegiate. Over his four years here, the support and resources provided by the school, along with the careful guidance of teachers and the challenges and opportunities in this new environment, have shaped him into a more independent and confident individual. He not only learned drawing techniques but also how to use drama to express himself.

“你是一只从疯狂动物城逃跑到HC、体型瘦瘦长长的树懒，悠然自得，永远不急不躁，面对世间的纷扰，总是微微一笑；知识渊博、文采出众的你，总是那么优雅而从容，字里行间蕴藏着深邃的思想与智慧。”

这是G12导师张寅杰老师在毕业典礼上对Efe的献词。愿Efe在他热爱的产品设计的世界里人如其名，有所建树，每一个作品，都闪耀着无与伦比的智慧与才华。

"You are a sloth from Zootopia who escaped to HC, tall and lanky, always calm and unhurried, smiling through the chaos of the world; you are knowledgeable and eloquent, always so elegant and composed, with deep thoughts and wisdom hidden in your words." 

These were the words of Mr. Zhang Yinjie, G12 mentor, at the graduation ceremony. We wish Efe all the best in his passion for product design, creating works that shine with unmatched wisdom and talent.

得益于父母从事展台3D设计的工作，Emma的艺术之路，仿佛是一朵在家庭沃土中慢慢绽放的花。她从小就开始学习画画和中国舞，对美的事物有着与生俱来的敏感和认识，也早在小学三年级时就明确了学习服装设计的志向。

作为创校生，Emma从G9加入狄邦华曜学校后就持续不断地接受来自升学指导老师的建议。在G10专业选择的关键时刻，Ms. Xijing老师凭借其丰富的经验，指出了单一专业如服装设计可能带来的职业发展局限性。这促使Emma深思熟虑，考虑如何将自己的艺术兴趣与更广阔的职业前景相结合，"还没有深入了解这个行业，就立刻决定我的人生道路是一个比较有风险的事情，"Emma因此将自己的专业选定在了视觉传达这个广泛的方向。

Thanks to her parents' work in 3D exhibition design, Emma's artistic journey blossomed in the fertile ground of her family. She started learning to draw and practice Chinese dance at a young age, with an innate sensitivity and appreciation for beauty. By third grade, she had already set her sights on studying fashion design.

As a founding student, Emma continuously received advice from college counselors at Huayao Collegiate from her entry in G9. In the crucial moment of choosing a major in G10, Ms. Xijing pointed out the potential career limitations of a single major like fashion design, based on her extensive experience. This prompted Emma to consider how to combine her artistic interests with broader career prospects. "Deciding my life path without fully understanding the industry is risky," Emma reflected, ultimately choosing visual communication, a more comprehensive field.

在准备作品集的过程中，Emma得以有机会深度审视自己的内心世界，通过艺术作品这扇窗，我们得以窥见她对生活的深刻观察和对周围社会的独到见解。“我的作品大多都看向社会上人与人之间的关系，或者说是人的内心与外界之间的关系。”Emma用一句话囊括了她的个人特质和创作思想。

源于狄邦华曜G11的电影赏析课程的深入讨论，Emma在老师的指引下学习了《Babel》（中文译名《通天塔》）电影镜头的拍摄手法和故事情节。电影中，人们试图建造一座通向上帝世界的塔，却因语言的混乱而失败，这一故事深深触动了Emma。

她将这一灵感转化为一个独特的艺术作品，以一个游戏的形式，让玩家可以体验从古至今的人类探索旅程。每一关卡都代表着人类对过去、现在和未来的探索，并且把人类在探索中的争夺、厮杀、以及经历苦难而体现出来的人文关怀定义为通天塔行为。

In preparing her portfolio, Emma had the opportunity to deeply reflect on her inner world. Through her artworks, we get a glimpse of her keen observations of life and unique insights into society. "Most of my works focus on relationships between people or between individuals and the outside world," she says, encapsulating her personal traits and creative philosophy.

Inspired by deep discussions in the G11 film appreciation course at Huayao Collegiate, Emma studied the shooting techniques and storyline of the film "Babel." The story of people trying to build a tower to reach the divine but failing due to language confusion deeply moved her. 

She transformed this inspiration into a unique artwork, a game allowing players to experience humanity's journey of exploration from ancient times to the present. Each level represents human exploration of the past, present, and future, defining the humanistic care in these explorations as the essence of the Babel project.

从小身型有些圆润的Emma在成长过程中也经历过自卑和低谷，内心细腻的人容易敏感，但与此同时也会更有同理心，更能察觉到世界美好的一面。从公立学校转学到狄邦华曜，充满善意和友好的校园氛围也滋生出Emma的自信和领导力。

“你永远是小伙伴们贴心的小棉袄，老师们可靠的小帮手，给每一个需要的人带来温暖与安慰。”正如Emma在毕业典礼上收获的献词一般，看到Emma就会感觉可靠和安心。

在毕业之前，Emma以她的热情和创意，策划了一场难忘的毕业旅行。在山海间漂流、在草原上篝火，在峡谷上蹦极，青春总是需要一些灿烂的颜色去铭记。如今正值暑假，Emma选择留在母校，担任千帆夏校陶艺课的助教，将自己的艺术理念和所学知识传授给年轻的学者。

Growing up, Emma experienced phases of self-doubt and lows due to her slightly chubby figure. Sensitive people tend to be more empathetic and notice the beauty in the world. Transitioning from a public school to Huayao Collegiate, the kind and friendly campus environment nurtured Emma's confidence and leadership. "You are always a comforting presence for your friends, a reliable helper for teachers, bringing warmth and comfort to everyone in need," read Emma's graduation tribute, highlighting the sense of security and trust she brings.

Before graduating, Emma organized an unforgettable graduation trip filled with enthusiasm and creativity. Drifting between mountains and seas, having bonfires on the grasslands, bungee jumping over canyons—youth always needs some vibrant colors to remember. This summer, Emma chose to stay at her alma mater, serving as a ceramics teaching assistant at Qianfan Summer School, passing on her artistic ideas and knowledge to younger scholars.

“Emma，愿你不再只装饰别人的梦，而是勇于追寻去圆自己的梦吧！让你那美丽的艺术之梦，在现实中绚丽多彩！”

"Emma, may you not only adorn others' dreams but also boldly pursue your own! Let your beautiful artistic dreams be vivid in reality!"

从小“被迫”在多元艺术氛围中成长，Vivian的言行之间透露出“大小姐”的气质。“我的母亲特别喜欢给我报培训班，钢琴、跳舞、画画、做手工我都学过，最后我在画画中找到了属于自己的光。”说完Vivian露出了温婉的笑容，似乎还挺感谢母亲的培养。

来到狄邦华曜学校之前，你可能难以想象眼前这位“大小姐”曾经也是个叛逆的“假小子”。4年前，Vivian在厦门的一所公立初中，因为学术平平，擅长的艺术又是副课，个性极强的她还总以各种方式去试图抵抗固有的束缚，渐渐的“不学无术”变成了她的标签。Vivian的父母也意识到她需要一所更包容，在课程上能给予她的特长更多培养和发展的学校，在朋友的推荐下，Vivian在中考结束之后开始转轨，来到了昆山。

Growing up "forced" in a diverse artistic environment, Vivian’s demeanor reflects a "lady-like" quality. "My mother loved enrolling me in training classes—piano, dance, drawing, crafts—I’ve done it all. Ultimately, I found my light in drawing." Vivian smiles gently, seemingly grateful for her mother’s nurturing.

Before joining Huayao Collegiate, it might be hard to imagine that this “lady” was once a rebellious “tomboy.” Four years ago, Vivian was in a public middle school in Xiamen, where her academic performance was average, and her talent in art was seen as secondary. Her strong personality often led her to resist established constraints in various ways, and gradually, “underachiever” became her label. Her parents realized she needed a more inclusive school that could better cultivate her strengths and develop her talents. On a friend’s recommendation, Vivian transitioned to Huayao Collegiate after her high school entrance exams.

作为创校生，4年的浸润和洗礼，让Vivian入学时的短发逐渐变为飘逸的长发，也让她在升学老师和学霸室友Sara（点击阅读Sara学者故事）的影响下逐渐找到自我，学会了更好地管理自己，变得更加自律和主动，开始思考未来的专业。

“学平面设计的话，我觉得太过于商业，但学纯艺的话又担心将来找不到工作，因此我选择了折中一点的插画专业，正好也能发挥我的手绘特长。”Vivian的艺术探索不仅是个人兴趣的体现，更是对艺术与商业结合可能性的深思熟虑。

As a founding student, four years at Huayao Collegiate transformed Vivian from short-haired to long-haired, and with the influence of her college counselor and academic roommate Sara, she gradually found herself, learning to manage her time better, becoming more self-disciplined and proactive, and thinking about her future major.

"Studying graphic design seems too commercial, but pure art might make it hard to find a job, so I chose illustration as a middle ground, where I can leverage my drawing skills." Vivian's artistic exploration is not only a reflection of her personal interests but also a well-considered balance between art and business.

在明确了艺术升学方向后，Vivian也将自己对推理悬疑的热爱融入到了她的作品集中，使得作品具有了引人入胜的叙事性和深刻的思考性，为观者提供了一种全新的艺术体验。

其中一个作品是源于一起家庭中的人际冲突，她将这件事情中人性丑恶的一面扩大到更广泛的社会议题——一个人是如何一步步走上歧途，歧途的诱因是什么——让作品具有了更深层次的意义和影响力，并起名《诱因》。在Vivian的画笔下，绘画成为了传递思想和情感的重要媒介，艺术作品不仅仅为观者提供了视觉的享受，更激发了人们对社会问题的思考和讨论。

After deciding on her art direction, Vivian incorporated her love for mystery and suspense into her portfolio, giving her work a captivating narrative and deep thought, providing a fresh artistic experience for viewers. 

One of her pieces stemmed from a family relationship issue, expanding the darker aspects of human nature to broader social issues—how a person gradually goes astray and what leads to it—giving the work deeper meaning and impact, aptly named "Inducement." In Vivian’s hands, drawing becomes a vital medium for conveying thoughts and emotions, offering not just visual enjoyment but also prompting reflection and discussion on social issues.

“在创作的过程中，学校的艺术老师Sierra对我帮助很大，她会启发我用一些抽象的意象去传递我的思想，比如《圣经》中的蛇既可以表达邪恶，也可以表达智慧。人的行为很可能就是一念之差。”

狄邦华曜的多元氛围不仅让Vivian得以在学生会万圣夜活动中大显身手，她曾独立完成一个悬疑类剧本杀剧情的文字创作和手绘脚本的工作，也让这个曾经对理科不太感冒的艺术生在这里感受到了化学的魅力。在一次次课堂实验后，她不经感叹，“化学反应真的特别美丽，我觉得特别能称之为艺术”。未来，Vivian也希望可以将理科和艺术结合起来，去做一些设计。

In the creative process, my art teacher Sierra helped me a lot. She inspired me to use abstract imagery to convey my thoughts. For instance, the snake in the Bible can represent both evil and wisdom. Human actions often hinge on a single thought.”

The diverse atmosphere at Huayao Collegiate not only allowed Vivian to showcase her skills at the student council’s Halloween event—where she independently created a mystery script and hand-drawn the script—but also helped her appreciate the beauty of chemistry, a subject she was initially indifferent to. “Chemical reactions are truly beautiful, and I think they can definitely be called art,” she marveled after several classroom experiments. In the future, Vivian hopes to combine science and art in her designs.

正如Vivian所说：“我不会把我的风格局限于特定的一个样子。”狄邦华曜也不会将学者局限在她固有的样子里，顺应每个学者的天性和特长，加以引导和帮助，他们自己也会努力成长为想成为的大人。

As Vivian says, "I don't limit my style to one particular look." Huayao Collegiate also doesn't confine students to their established selves. By nurturing and guiding each student's natural talents, they help students grow into the people they aspire to be.

“首先得先学起来，成为一个有实力的人，这样子不管以后是到台前做歌手还是到幕后做场控，都可以把事情做好，作为一个长久的职业，并且有钱赚。”提及未来做音乐是否能“有饭吃”，Dianna却有自己独到的理解。

对于是否要以音乐升学，Dianna本人和家长起初也表示过顾虑。在10年级时，经过一个开明的家庭圆桌会议，讨论音乐的专业性和就业前景，Dianna下定决心将自己的热爱转化为专业。

“既然要学，就学一个自己喜欢的。”Dianna早在小学和初中就展露了歌唱的天赋，但一直以来没有接受过系统化的声乐训练，直到考虑升学，“自学成才”的灵魂歌手才踏上了真正的音乐专业道路。

自此的每周末，Dianna不惧风雨，往返于上海，投身于声乐、乐理和托福课程的紧张学习中，这份坚持持续了近两年。在音乐院校申请的最后冲刺阶段，她精心挑选了4首风格各异的歌曲，包括一些难度极高的英文曲目，以展示她在音乐上的广度和深度。

最终，凭借扎实的声乐演唱作品集、现场面试（Audition）和近乎满分的乐理测试（96/100），Dianna一举收割了亚利桑那州立大学、芝加哥哥伦比亚学院、洛杉矶音乐学院、音乐家学院等7所音乐名校的offer。

Every weekend, Dianna braved the weather, traveling between Shanghai and her classes for vocal, music theory, and TOEFL courses, maintaining this routine for nearly two years. In the final sprint for music school applications, she carefully selected four songs of varying styles, including some highly challenging English pieces, to showcase her musical breadth and depth.

Ultimately, with a solid vocal portfolio, a live audition, and an almost perfect music theory test (96/100), Dianna received offers from seven prestigious music schools, including Arizona State University, Columbia College Chicago, Los Angeles College of Music, and Musicians Institute.

"最后两周可能每天都在奔波，但因为喜欢唱歌，加上小学时击剑训练培养的坚韧不拔，这些都让我有了不屈不挠的精神。"从她的话语中，我们这才发现，Dianna不仅在音乐领域有着卓越的才华，她竟然在初中蝉联了多年苏州市中小学生击剑比赛的冠军，曾因为中考而放弃了击剑特长。

"The last two weeks were hectic, but my love for singing, coupled with the perseverance from my elementary school fencing training, gave me an indomitable spirit." Dianna’s words reveal not only her extraordinary musical talent but also her history as a fencing champion in Suzhou’s primary and middle school competitions. She had to give up fencing for her high school entrance exams.

然而，来到狄邦华曜之后，Dianna再也不必在学术与兴趣之间做出取舍。在丰富多彩的高中生活中，摄影成为了她记录美好瞬间和表达自我审美的一种方式。“狄邦华曜的秋天特别美”，Dianna一边向我们展示她的摄影作品，一边回顾在狄邦华曜的四年。曾担任学生会宣传部摄影师的她，镜头下记录了大大小小的学校重要时刻和春去秋来的校园风景。

At Huayao Collegiate, Dianna no longer had to choose between academics and interests. In her vibrant high school life, photography became a way to capture beautiful moments and express her aesthetic. “Huayao Collegiate’s autumn is particularly beautiful,” Dianna recalls, showing her photography work from her four years at the school. As the student council’s publicity photographer, she documented significant school moments and the seasonal changes on campus.

"唱歌是动态的艺术，它充满生命和活力；而摄影则是一种静态的艺术，它捕捉瞬间，定格永恒。" Dianna如是说，她对两种艺术形式都有深刻的理解。

她认为摄影中的光影运用，不仅是一种美学追求，更是她未来职业道路上的宝贵技能。"Musicians Institute位于洛杉矶，紧邻好莱坞，这所大学将为我提供丰富的实践机会。"Dianna已经对未来充满期待，并明确了自己的升学院校。

“学习”二字从来不只是学术成绩，Dianna所学的每一种知识和技能——无论是体育的竞技精神、声乐的情感表达，还是摄影的视觉艺术——都在潜移默化中丰富了她的内在，拓宽了她的视野。这正是狄邦华曜学校全人教育的魅力所在——它鼓励学者全面发展，在多元化的学习和体验中，追随自己的热爱，塑造个性化的未来。

“开心就好，喜欢做什么就赶紧去做！”这是Dianna的生活哲学，也是以上四位艺术生总体给人留下的印象。他们的开心并非轻而易举，而是建立在不懈的付出和深沉的热爱之上，每一次艺术表达都是一次人生的淬炼。

他们的艺术之路证明了：在狄邦华曜极具个性化的全人教育的引导下，每位学者都能在多元探索中发现自己的星辰大海，勇敢地追逐属于自己的光芒。
